Adarra mountain, just 20 minutes drive out of the city of San Sebastian, is a lovely 3-4 hour hike to admire the city from one of the best natural viewpoints of the region. Tighten your hiking shoes & adjust your daypack to start walking the trail, through the shade of a centenary beech forest. As we gain altitude, and get out of the shade of the beech forest, we will find open spaces, with lovely pastures, where it is easy to spot sheep & wild horses. The final climb is quite steep, that challenges the hikers, but well worths the effort, as you will prove once you reach the summit to observe the 360 degree view of the green basque valleys and inland mountains as well as the city of San Sebastian with the Atlantic ocean as a backdrop.
Having set the mood with this superb hike, you’ll be just about ready for lunch. Today it will be in a traditional cider house.
(2 hours up, 1:15 hours down)
Traditional Cider House menu will be served family style, based in chorizo a la sidra, cod fish omelette, grilled cod fish with caramelized onion and green peppers, and txuleta (grilled bone-in prime rib cooked over an open fire). Dessert is local Idiazabal cheese with walnuts and quince jelly.
Unlimited home made natural Apple cider is included, so you could not stop making unlimited visits to the cider barrels.
